Hey everyone! We are thrilled to present you our new project: Pulaumi souls!
People who visit Fuerteventura often ask what it is like to live on this island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with its moon like landscape and it‘s razor sharp black lava reef in contrast to the lovely white sand beaches. How did we strand here, what stands behind Pulaumi and what inspires it?
For us, Pulaumi is way more than just a brand and it is influenced by our whole environment and community. That’s why we would love to present you all the Pulaumi souls and give you an insight into their lifes.
The Pulaumi souls are all sorts of creative human beings; from designers to surfboard shapers, tattoo artists, wave sliders, skaters and artisans — we are surrounded by so many individual personalities and ways of life, and we can’t wait to learn more about them and share their story with you.
To celebrate the start of this project we went surfing together with some of our Pulaumi souls. Emmy the Makrame artisan on a fun looking egg-shape, Ila our illustrator and Art Designer on a classic log, Ramena with a 70s diamond tail single fin and Misha the heart and soul of Pulaumi with another beautiful longboard… and by the way, Ramena is 6 months pregnant at the time of this surf session. 🙂
A sunset session was the call!
But then the big question always comes up: Where do we go so that everybody is happy? If you surf, you might know the difficulties of finding a surf spot that suits everyone in a group. Especially here because there are so many options! Someone wants to surf bigger waves, someone else smaller waves and…”oh! We should check that spot on the other side of the island, I heard it’s pumping…” so many possibilities and so many preferences 😉
After a short argument we agreed on a spot, put on our wetsuits and grabbed our boards.
As soon as our toes touched the water all of our worries and tensions were long forgotten, and we enjoyed such a fun surf session together. Our friend Max came along as well and captured some nice moments of this session. The photos represent what surfing is all about…enjoying the Ocean and sliding on waves with your friends.
Next time we will present you our friend, artist and illustrator Ila who you see on this picture dancing gently over the water.
Stay tuned.
